Are Blacks Racist if they Vote for Obama because He’s Black?

Conservatives aren’t the only ones who are questioning the black vote these days. When Stacey Dash, who is black and Mexican, came out for Romney, she was attacked for rejecting her black heritage. She was called an “Oreo” (black on the outside but white on the inside), a “jigaboo” (a weak and servile black), and additional racial epithets. The consensus among outspoken blacks is that a black must vote for Barack Obama because he’s black. Jesse Washington, writing for CourierPress.com asks these questions:

Are black people supporting Obama mainly because he’s black? If race is just one factor in blacks’ support of Obama, does that make them racist? Can blacks’ support for Obama be compared with white voters who may favor his Republican challenger, Mitt Romney, because he’s white?

In an interview with Ebony magazine, film star Samuel L. Jackson revealed why he voted for Obama:

“I voted for Barack because he was black. ’Cuz that’s why other folks vote for other people — because they look like them … That’s American politics, pure and simple. [Obama’s] message didn’t mean [bleep] to me.”

No one is really surprised by this admission.

Blacks who voted for a white candidate when there’s a white alternative are not “real Blacks” or “authentic blacks.” According to many black “leaders,” black conservatives are “token blacks” that are used to add a little color to the all-white décor of conservatism to show the world that they are not racists and bigots.

How does someone in your own ethnic or racial group help you politically when the oath they take is to uphold the Constitution? People who vote in terms of race or ethnicity must believe someone from their racial or ethnic class will vote contrary to the Constitution to benefit them personally.

When former New York Governor (1983–1994) Mario Cuomo considered a run for president, a number of political “experts” considered his Italian background as an advantage because he would help secure the Italian vote. If Cuomo had been running for political office in Italy, he would have been just another Italian candidate. His Italian heritage would not have been a factor since his political opponents were also Italians.

What would a Cuomo presidency have done for Italians? Make them feel proud to be an Italian? Lower the price of pasta, pizza, calzones, biscotti, cannoli, and sausage? Joe DiMaggio did more to make Italians feel proud of their heritage than Cuomo ever could have done. I’m full-blooded Italian. Would I have voted for Cuomo because of his Italian background? No! His policies were the issue.

I love Judge Andrew Napolitano, a person of obvious Italian descent. If the Judge were to run for political office, would I vote for him because of his Italian heritage? Not on your life. I would vote for him because of his political views and how they lined up with the Constitution. Ethnic background wouldn’t have influenced my vote.

If Italian voters should be ethnic-blind, then blacks should be color-blind. Most are not, and as a result they vote against their own long term self-interest. There is no single black political worldview. Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams are the antithesis of President Obama on nearly every political issue. Their blackness is not an issue. I know that if they ran for political office that they would do their best to uphold the Constitution and not legislate in terms or race or class. In fact, they would not legislate at all since it’s not one of the powers of the president.

I suspect that many Blacks vote for Blacks because they are anti-White. It’s about payback for years of oppression and discrimination. Consider what Jackson went on to say, using the N-word several times. You can sense his feelings of payback:

“When it comes down to it, they wouldn’t have elected a N*****. Because, what’s a N*****? A N***** is scary. Obama ain’t scary at all. N*****s don’t have beers at the White House. N*****s don’t let some white dude, while you in the middle of a speech, call [him] a liar. A [bleep] would have stopped the meeting right there and said, ‘Who the f*** said that?’ I hope Obama gets scary in the next four years, ’cuz he ain’t gotta worry about getting re-elected.”

Other Blacks share Obama’s rage, support it, and vote accordingly. In the end, the nation is put at risk.
